Why I Like To Read!

Reading for me is an escape, a calming exercise, my meditation. Reading is something I can do anywhere and a book is something I always have with me. In addition, reading has always been a fun learning tool for me.

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. Once I am sucked into a time period or historical figure, I like to learn as much about them as I can (usually through reading more books!). Go ahead, ask me something about the Tudors!

On the flipside, reading also opens up creativity and imagination. Reading science fiction, fantasy and paranormal gets my churning in new and exciting ways. New experiences and ideas have come to me through reading, reading books about adventures, new cultures and social issues has opened my mind to new things. Reading helps fuel other passions of mine, I also love science, gardening and dance and have expanded and gained new knowledge in these areas by reading.

So, Thank you Authors for all of this and more!

My giveaway is for three awesome books that I have read this year, you can find out more about them below:

I read, but less now that I write so much. I absolutely agree it is a meditation of sorts and most certainly an escape.

The title of the book "Bowery Girl" is really interesting and so is the cover. I am sure it will be a great read. Happy International Author's Day! Cheers :)

Historical fiction is epic that way! It seems you can become an expert in that time period just by reading fiction. :) It's nice to meet new readers! Nancy’s Blog

Good post, Stephanie. I was just talking to the people in my writer's group about how literature and history go hand in hand. Stories tend to be influenced by what's happening in the world at the time. Thanks for posting. God bless. - Robert

Reading is important to me, because it helps me get to my happy place...especially after a stressful day. I'm with you, too, I like reading paranormal because I get to escape from reality. Happy hopping :)

Hi, Stephanie,
I was wondering if you'd consider my new book, Afternoon, for review on your website. Afternoon is a novella for young adults about courage, faith in Jesus Christ, and growing up in a surreal and challenging world. Please see my blog for an excerpt, and email me if you'd like a free copy. Thanks for your time and consideration. God bless. - Robert
