Karma's Dilemma
by Karma

About the Book:
Karma, a young man, knows very well who his soulmate is. Or so he thinks.

But, really, who is the one?

The posh Angela who he worships. Or is it Sana, the wild racer, who drives him crazy. Or is it Simi, the sensible psychologist, who puts him back together.

Or maybe there is no one for him because Karma’s deeds in his all-consuming quest as he scours the world have broken so many rules that, one day, karma, the immortal and unrelenting collector of soul-debt, comes calling for Karma, the mortal, himself.

The novel demonstrates the lengths one is willing to go to, the rules one is willing to break and the soul-debt one is willing to accumulate in the quest for a soulmate. Truly, everything is fair in love, even if not in war.

Will Karma the mortal outwit karma the immortal? Or will karma wipe Karma away...

Read some Snippets from Karma's Dilemma

~ Snippet 1 ~

“You bloody rat bastard!”

I turned around to see retribution in the form of Sana. She was in her car, windows down and looked drunk. She put the car into first gear, revving like crazy. I read her intention; loud and clear. She was going to ram her car into me! If I had desired for anything in my life, it was at that moment; the desire to scram. But I couldn’t move. I was frozen in my spot. Her green eyes had arrested me like the snake’s do to a hare.

Looked like this was it. I closed my eyes and waited. For the end.

~ Snippet 2 ~

“There’s something else I like about you,” Simi said, a minute into our walk.

“What?”

“There is an India in my dreams. While I had heard about it from my parents and read about it in books, I had never seen it for myself, even during the few times I had been to India. I had really missed that elusive India! I see that India in you. Touched by pain, but not ruled by it. India that hopes. India that wishes. India that dreams.”

~ Snippet 3 ~

Upon my arrival at Bengaluru, my brother, Arun, picked me up at the airport. In the years that had gone by, he had developed a paunch, which looked just like Father’s had. It was a little hard to imagine Arun chasing a thief in hard pursuit, but I guessed that was what the shiny police jeep, in which he had driven over, was for.

“Are you allowed to use the police jeep for personal purposes?” I asked as we hugged.

“Everybody does it,” he replied, with a laugh. “In any case, it’s the peoples’ money and who are we if not people?”

On the way, we had to stop at quite a few traffic lights and I could see many beggars, some of them children, begging from people in cars, but they avoided the police jeep we were in; perhaps they were well aware of my brother’s motto of their money being his.

About the Author:
Dear Readers,

Before I tell you more about myself, I want to answer a question that might arise in your mind. Given there are already so many writers (some might think too many), the question is: Why should I write at all?

Simply, I write because I was not allowed to write. Or read, any book which had the word love in it. In my family, it was believed that reading about love lead to rebellion. I myself picked up the pen when my only child was six-months old. At that time, I was without a job. I wrote because there was a lot that I wanted to tell my child, even if one day in the future, to make sense of this world. Writing also helped me keep hope alive, one page at a time, as I went from one fruitless interview to another.

As my child took first steps, I reached a milestone of my own. I completed my first book; the story of a young man's quest to find answers to life's questions. A boutique publisher in Paris loved it and translated my work into French. I even found a job soon after.

I am choosing to write under a pen-name because I am at a stage in my life where I prefer and love anonymity. Once my child is older, I intend to write under my own name.

Many thanks for reading my post and I hope you enjoy reading my novels.

Happy Reading!

Malachi, Ruse Master
Pamela Schloesser Canepa
(A Detours in Time Character Spin-off, #3)
Publication date: April 23rd 2020
Genres: Mystery, New Adult, Young Adult

Duplicity is Mike’s first nature. If you want to know what he’s doing with his life, just ask, but don’t expect the truth. You may not even be getting his real name…

Such duplicity is the reason a so-called ‘acting job’ at a suspiciously sparse agency, LLJF, becomes the perfect solution to Mike’s college drop-out blues. During a time when he is just finding out who he really is, Mike adopts the new identity of ‘Malachi,’ and it fits like a glove. A broken nose, a lost tooth, stealing scientific secrets, and a run through the alleys of D.C. are all in a day’s work. Malachi is the best at uncovering the truths that others want to hide, and the taste of succeeding at what you are best at is intoxicating.

Malachi is willing to do anything to get his paycheck–until he must decide if the thrill of deception is worth the price he must pay.

Malachi, Ruse Master is a Detours in Time series character spinoff and intersects with events from Undercurrents in Time. The third book in the series, Malachi, Ruse Master is also perfect as a stand alone read.

EXCERPT:

Jack got me back home in a blur. I headed back to my basement room and studied the scratches and bruises. I still had two black eyes.

“It’s not always this bad,” Jack said.

“Eh, it’s alright. I mean, a hundred dollars extra? I’ll take that. And you even fixed it for me. I should pursue that career in boxing after all.” I chuckled.

He set the pill bottle on my coffee table. “Well, let me know if you ever want some sparring lessons; it may come in handy, just for self-defense. By the way, you’ll only need one of these every six hours.” He tapped the pill bottle. “No drinking, okay?”

I nodded.

“I’ll get those back day after tomorrow.” He left with a grunt and a gentle pat on the back, as if I had just been initiated into manhood.

I pulled out an old Loius L’amour Western and opened it up. It had been a while since I’d read a book other than to scan it for a class assignment. Bad habit. The storyline and the concept of frontier justice could soothe me after a hard day’s work, but I could not focus my vision or my mind. My shoes were off, but my jeans were still on, and my money was still in my pocket. All of this made me feel a little more secure in the moment, as long as I didn’t think about the blow to my nose. Maybe he was right, and it wasn’t always this bad. I tried to focus on the pay, and soon gave up, dropping the book down on my lap as I lay back and drifted to sleep.

Author Bio:

As a teacher of middle school English, Pamela loves to inspire the imagination of young readers and writers. As a child, she herself wrote often to escape boredom or entertain herself on long trips or long distance moves. When her family settled in the Southeast, writing provided an outlet for private thoughts and emotions for years, and after blogging for a few years, she decided to self-publish fiction in 2016. Pamela's genres include science fiction, paranormal fiction, and poetry of all types. The "Made for Me" series was Pamela's first published fiction series with a futuristic flavor. Pamela is now releasing a spinoff for Malachi, one of the characters in “Undercurrents in Time,” and her next project is another installment in the “Made for Me” series. What inspired Malachi, Ruse Master? “I feel like the young adult years are sort tumultuous for many of us, as well as being a huge turning point in who we decide to be. I remembered those years from my life as I allowed Malachi’s story to unravel in my mind. I truly enjoyed it!”

What’s next? Ellie, the elusive young woman who keeps showing up in Malachi’s life, reveals her purpose for doing so in Ellie, the Time Traveler, due for release in 2021 or 2022.

In Mother of Many, a young woman whose real mother is unknown, becomes part of a conspiracy as she discovers the truth about the father of her unborn child. Due for release when the muse insists.

Clean Water For Developing Countries

Publisher: Clean Water Press

The main purpose of this book is to assist the reader in choosing the best method for providing clean and safe water in a developing country. Most of the book’s content comes from the knowledge gained from:

-Fifty-plus years of research and teaching in water resource engineering, hydrology and clean water for developing countries at both the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of California, Berkeley.

-Thirty-five years as an expert witness on numerous hydrologic and water resource engineering legal cases.

-Clean water projects that I was involved with in Kenya, Peru, Honduras and Guatemala between 2011 and 2017.

-Attendance at various courses including ones at the Centre for Affordable Water & Sanitation Technologies (CAWST) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and at “Potters for Peace” in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

-My many colleagues and students.

The sites needing clean water can be diverse, e.g. an individual household, an entire village, a group of villages, a school, a clinic, an orphanage, etc. The focus of this book is to provide the reader with a basic understanding of how to bring clean water supplies to these entities. The optimal approaches will depend on both the Point of Use (POU), which may be large or small, and the state of the water (quantity, turbidity, type and concentration of pathogens/bacteria/viruses present) at the water source. Point of Use (POU) is the location where the water is to be consumed.

The majority of those impacted by unsafe water live in isolated rural areas of the developing world. Cost, sustainability, cultural differences and acceptance by those who will use the water are all important factors in providing clean drinking water to these people.

These factors include:

-Community Involvement. By far, the most successful water enhancements in developing countries are tied to community organizations, particularly among the female population.

-The Source of Water. It could be from groundwater, rainwater harvesting or surface water, such as springs, creeks, rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

-The Quality of the Source Water. The water may have physical, biological and/or chemical pollution.
The Size of the Demand Population. Is it an individual household, a school, an orphanage, a small or large village, or a group of villages? Obviously, this affects the amount/volume of clean water needed, and this affects the methodology to be used.

-The location of the population to be served. Are they close together or widely dispersed?

Everything we do either gets us closer to or further away from becoming the husbands our wives deserve, the fathers our kids need, and, ultimately, the men God intends us to be. 'End Average' is a reality check for men identifying as Christians. Ryan Hansen dives into what it takes to achieve permanent heart change that leads to balanced and consistent growth in faith, relationships, health, and finances. Through examples from his own hard-learned lessons and from wisdom found in the Bible, you'll see what faith in action looks like between Sunday sermons. 'End Average' will challenge you to start living with intentionality and purpose as you seek to glorify God in everything you do.

About the Author

Ryan Hansen is a coffee-loving author and speaker with a calling to help those around him find Jesus. He is married to his lovely wife, Jenna, and together they are raising their four children in California. After growing up as a missionary kid in Italy and Germany, Ryan joined the U.S. Army and spent eight years as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and as a psychological operations staff sergeant. After leaving the Army, he earned an MBA while pursuing a sales career in the medical industry. Aside from daydreaming about being able to one day play the guitar well, Ryan spends his time playing with his kids, improving his beer-brewing abilities, and (unsuccessfully) talking his wife out of more Disneyland trips.

YA Historical Fantasy
Published Date: April 4, 2020
Publisher: INtense Publications LLC

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Kentucky. Now it’s 1838. Steven and Amanda have not been able to get back into Verdura for two years, no matter what they’ve done. They don’t know if promises made there have come true or if something terrible has happened.

But things have changed in Kentucky. Amanda’s grown older and her father wants her to marry a young man who’s a cruel bully. Daddy thinks she’ll change him. Huh! She wants nothing to do with him. But her father’s insistent. Plus, Amanda has no idea what’s happened to Joshua and Marie. Letters from them stopped coming some time ago.

And then there’s that peculiar ‘amusement’ someone is putting on in downtown Glasgow, a weird phenomenon hyped by a creepy mustachioed tinker who doesn’t have any pots or pans to sell.

Join Joshua, Marie, Amanda and Steven in their second Verduran adventure. Yeah. This one could also be fatal. Or worse.

About the Author

Having been a life-long fan of Narnia and Middle Earth, Dr. Saunders wanted to create a concrete world with an American base to demonstrate the same truths held by C.S.Lewis and J.R.R.Tolkien.
Inside: Narnia, Asteroid B-612, Middle Earth, Earthsea, and earth. I’ve spent a lot of time in each of these places. Plus a few more. They’re all real, you know, just real in different ways. But there is a Reality that is more important than them all, and I’ve gotten to know Him, too. I’ve been to dozens of countries on earth (on every continent except Antartica) and He has been there. He’s been in many of the other places, too, the places you can only get to through stories. But I’ve seen, in many places, that who He is has gotten bumbled up. So I wanted to create a place where He could be seen for who He really is. The place turned out to be green - at least the sky - and very hard. I used to teach Latin and the word for green, in Latin, started with ‘ver.’ The word for hard started with ‘dura.’ So I decided to put them together to name my place: Verdura. I learned later that the word ‘verdura,’ in Spanish means ‘vegetables.’ I hope the Verdurans won’t hold it against me that they live on vegetables. And I hope Spanish-speakers will understand that I didn’t mean to borrow their word for vegetables and will, maybe, see their way to believing Verdura to be a hard, green planet. Where Reality lives.

Join us for this tour from April 13 to May 1, 2020!

Book Details:

Book Title:  Lighten Your Mental Load by Amy Thornton
Category:  Adult non-fiction,  129 pages
Genre:  Self-Help
Publisher:  Tell-Tale Publishing
Release date:   January, 2020
Tour dates: Apr 13 to May 1, 2020
Content Rating:  PG: The author uses occasional mild swear words in the book.

Book Description:

Mental labor, or the mental load, involves the many — and extremely varied — tasks that are involved in managing a household and/or workplace. This topic has exploded over the past couple of years, especially for women. As stated in an October 2017 Washington Post article, “The constant stress of trying to stay organized — and to remember to execute so many tasks every single day — is affecting women's relationships with their spouses, children, friends, and colleagues. They are experiencing mental, emotional, and physical fatigue trying to stay on top of it all.”

Lighten Your Mental Load shares real stories of what this load is like for both men and women across the globe and how it originated. It offers practical advice on how to lighten this burden through technology and other methods in the following areas:
• Home
• Shopping and Meals
• Marriage/Partners
• Children
• Pets
• Transportation
• Career
• Birthdays, Celebrations, Holidays, and Vacations
• Volunteering, Church Activities, and Hobbies
• Caregiving
• Retirement

Finally, the book discusses ways to not add to the mental load of others and how we can more evenly distribute the mental labor between both sexes for future generations.
