A wonderfully haunting new version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Author Dax Varley has expanded upon and given a new twist to the characters from the original storyline so that there is now a romance, more intrigue and more to lose.

Katrina Van Tassel, a beautiful daughter of a wealthy landowner welcomes the new school teacher, Ichabod Crane, to town.  The former school teacher has perished at the hands of the Headless Horseman.  This fact is very troubling for the residents of Sleepy Hollow, seeing as they thought to be rid of him once and for all three years prior.

Ichabod Crane's character is now handsome and full of new and radical ideas, he is instantly attracted to the headstrong and independent Katrina.  As their relationship develops, the Headless Horseman once again wreaks havoc on the town, including Ichabod.

I loved this re-telling and was gripped at the end!  It seems that there might even be more to tell...  Another great Halloween time read!

This book had me at the prologue!  From the time Dmitri wakes up in a morgue I was hooked.

Dmitri lives in an aging, small town and writes obituaries for a small newspaper.  His parents are dead, he dropped out of college, is trying to write a novel that is nearing 1000 pages and his only contact with someone of the opposite sex that's his age is over the phone.  Lisa is his contact at the local nursing home who gives Dmitri the scoop on residents who might be kicking the bucket soon.  Dmitri's life changes when he is sent on a Halloween assignment when he is sent to cover a physic reading at a haunted house.

Dmitri's character was spot on and I was intrigued every little bit of the way throughout the novel.  The paranormal aspects of the story were done very smoothly and in a believable way.  There were many twists and turns that kept me wanting to keep reading and reading, especially at the end!

A great read Halloween-time read!
