Ellie Jordan is a ghost hunter with Eckhart Investigations out of Savannah, Georgia.  Ellie and novice hunter, Stacey receive a new case of a haunting at the Treadwell house.  The Treadwell family have recently purchased an old estate in hopes of fixing it up as a bed and breakfast.  Since they have moved Anna, the mother and her daughter Lexa have seen and heard evidence of a ghost.  Meanwhile, the father, Dale is in a deep case of denial.  Ellie and Stacey stake out the house and do research and find that they have clear evidence of a haunting. It seems like all they have to do is trap the ghost and collect their fee, but this haunting is not an open an shut case.

First of all, the cover does not fit this book at all.  It makes the book seem like it is a young adult novel and that it might be a little kitschy.  This is really a new adult aged novel with no romance and it offers up a solid haunted house plot with engaging characters.  I especially liked that for a story about ghosts, it was rooted in reality as much as possible; if you love any of the ghost hunting shows out there, you will like Eillie Jordan.  Ellie Jordan is a serious ghost hunter, her past had led her to want to help the living rid themselves of the dead and she takes her responsibilities in earnest.  Her partner, Stacey is fun-loving and has great one-liners, offering a good balance. The haunting and ghosts were wonderful.  The history of the house, the events that happened there and the purpose of the ghosts made for a suspenseful and gripping story.  Though I guessed part of the twist early on, there was more to it than I expected.  I will definitely be checking out the rest of the Ellie Jordan books.

This book was received for free in return for an honest review.
