This was a psychological thriller that I could not put down.  From the prologue, an intriguing scene is set that left me with many questions to be answered. Through binoculars,  a man watches a woman throw another man off a balcony and into the ocean.  Who is the woman, who is  the dead man and why?

A group of strangers arrives at a small Jamaican resort, the Sunset Villa.  After Hurricane Sandy and a negative review, the Sunset Villa is having a hard time financially.  Among the people at the resort are Matthew, the strange man who wrote the scathing review who is back at the request of the owners, Jessica and Rob, a Price is Right showcase winner and her boyfriend, and some regulars including Kate, a psychiatrist.

Strong, engaging characters drove this story as well as a good mystery and an engaging crime.  Kate's character drew me in, she  is not only a good at her job, but she has an eidetic memory and is hiding something from her past.  She returns to Sunset Villa not only because it is her favorite vacation spot, but because she feels a fierce loyalty to the friends who are the owners.  She agrees to help the owners try to figure out the strange reviewer, Matthew.  I loved one of Kate's devices when she meets a new person, taking the first three letters of their name and assigning an adjective for their personality.  This was a great way for me to get a quick feel for each of the very different characters introduced throughout the book.  The writing style kept me guessing to the end like a good mystery should. The way that the murder was committed was incredibly unique and the ending was unexpected.

This book was received for free in return for an honest review.
