~Excerpt~
“As flattering as that is I think I am better off behind the camera.” I pressed a kiss to his cheek and heard commotion behind us and saw Lucas stumbling out the door closely followed by a laughing Danno. “Daniel? Did you just shove Lucas out the door?” He gave me a sly grin. “Of course.” I laughed and shook my head. “Daniel? Why are you shoving Lucas out the door?”

“Because Maddison, he wasn’t moving fast enough for me.” Lucas responded by punching him in the arm.

“No, he wanted to come and intrude so he can hear ya sing. I was trying to stop the damn heffa but he took a running start on me.” I snorted.

“Daniel, you break anything in this house and I am going to make you hurt.” It was his turn to snort.

“Bring it on princess. A baby could hit harder than you!” I looked to Morgan who bit back a laugh and my attention turned back to Daniel.

“Who said anything about hitting you?” I gave him my best sweet smile and his face sobered up. When he turned to look at Morgan and Lucas, they both lost their composure and burst out laughing.

“And we are going to fall over laughing when she makes you cry from kicking you so hard.”

Book Tour Grand Finale for
The Firefighter's Refrain
By Loree Lough

We hope you enjoyed the reviews, guest posts, and excerpt!
If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out now...

Launch - Welcome to the Tour!

And in The Firefighter’s Refrain, we introduce Sam, making ends meet as an academy instructor while waiting for his dreams of becoming a Nashville recording artist to come true.

Singing Librarian Books - Finn Leary

Finn Leary has been more or less on her own from the age of 12, when she started waiting tables to help care for her younger sister and problems-riddled parents...

So while Finn likes and admires Sam, she doesn’t want to, because it means putting her heart in someone else’s hands, someone who—like her parents—will eventually let her down.

underneath the covers - Sam Marshall

Sam Marshall was born into a big, loving, tight-knit family out west, and doesn’t understand anything about Finn.

The challenge, he realizes, is bridging the gap between himself and Finn…without doing or saying something that will put him in the Finn Castoffs boat with every other guy who has tried and failed to woo her.

Christy's Cozy Corners - Favorite Recipes from Finn Leary’s The Right Note Café

The Right Note Café Apple Pie & Sweet Tea…the Right Note Way

Hardcover Feedback - Review

"The ending was so cute! I definitely recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys clean contemporary fiction."

Katie's Clean Book Collection - Review

"I really enjoyed the way the story flows. There's a sweet gentleness to it and the way the characters are developed and interact with each other just warms my soul. Lessons of love, forgiveness, patience, overcoming fears, and independent strength are predominate feelings woven throughout these words."

Rockin' Book Reviews - Excerpt

Ciara scooped crushed ice into identical red-plastic glasses. “You know, I think, I think that Sam guy likes you.”

“All of my customers like me,” Finn teased.

“Yeah, but he’s the only one who stares at you that way.”

“What way?” Finn looked across the diner, straight into the big blue eyes of Sam Marshall, whose dimple appeared at the same time as his charming, slanted smile. It didn’t appear rehearsed, like the flirtations of so many other star-hopefuls that frequented her Right Note Café.

Getting Your Read On - Review

"This book was good. I felt like the plot swirled in the same place at times without a lot of forward movement so for me, it was the characters that made this book shine."

Becky on Books - Review

"A sweet romance–third in the series, but worked just fine as a standalone....I finished the book with a smile…"

I Am A Reader - Nashville Setting

Some scenes in The Firefighter’s Refrain take place in Finn’s diner, The Right Note. Others happen in Sam’s classroom and on-site as Sam instructs soon-to-be firefighters.

Nashville is a unique blend of old and new, and pulses with the hopes and dreams of would-be stars who put all they have into every performance delivered from the stages of a hundred old-fashioned pubs, entertain tourists from all over the world. They don’t call it Music City for nothin’!

Wishful Endings - Being a Country Singer

As someone who spent a few years singing for my supper, I know a little about what it takes to ‘make it’ in the competitive music industry. (Suffice it to say I didn’t possess all of these traits, or I might have a few album covers hanging on my walls, instead of books on the shelves!)...

LibriAmoriMiei - Review

"This is a well-written novel that grabbed and held me from page one. Good plot, lovable characters and a sweet ending. I could only put it down with great difficulty.

If you love clean and romantic stories this book is perfect for you."

Teatime and Books - 10 all-time favorite Country songs & 10 Ways to Sing a Love Song

There’s something genuine and gritty about good old-fashioned Country music. Whether toe-tapping or tear-inducing, each song manages—in the span of a few stanzas—to reach deep into our souls, to make us laugh, or cry, or remember the good times…and the bad…

Thoughts of a Blonde - Review

"A couple of loners with huge hearts connect and enjoy getting to know each other!...

When Sam meets Finn at her cafe, he’s instantly drawn to her. When he hears she’s not up on musicians, he tries to keep his distance, but he can’t help but like her and her adorable kid sis."

We hope you enjoyed meeting the last of the Marshall boys, Sam, and the gal he's interested in, Finn, who both have their own dreams and struggles. Don't forget to enter the giveaway below...

Chapter One

Sophia Stone knew life held few absolutes:  good wine is art, good Italian cooking is passion, a good child is a gift, and good news never comes in a certified letter.
“You sure this is for me, Tito?” she asked the postman who thrust an envelope toward her.  When she tilted her head she could read the word “Certified,” stamped in red like a guilty verdict across the front.
A heavy-set man, Tito had a ready smile and an easy, engaging manner. Each day while delivering mail, he also traversed the valley searching for tidbits of gossip with the zeal of an Army battalion scouring the countryside for insurgents.  St. Helena was a small community where the denizens believed mining each other’s business was an inalienable right granted on the theory that without the titillation everyone would fall over dead from boredom. “Yeah, looks like it’s from Charlie.  Certified, too.”  Tito didn’t have the decency to hide his interest as he mopped his face with a dirty handkerchief then stuffed it back into his rear pocket.  The wiping didn’t help—a sheen of sweat still covered his ruddy cheeks.  August had been hot with no break in sight.
Sophia eyed him.  She wouldn’t put it past him to have already steamed open the letter, a thought that made her a bit nauseous.  Why had she thought a small town in Napa Valley would be a good place to hide?

PSYCHO INSIDE ME

I killed my first victim at thirteen years old – my age, not his. He was going to rape me, him and a couple of his friends. And so, I killed him. And then… I killed again. And again. At seventeen, I’m killing four to six times a year – maybe more. Don’t stress out. I only go after the pedophiles and rapists. There are more out there than I could cover in a lifetime. Saying I did this on my own would be selfish. Enforcing justice holds a glory all its own. But now, my lifelong friend and backup, Deegan, has been arrested. I have to decide if I want to give myself up and take his place or leave him with all the damning evidence. I don’t want to stop killing. But if I let him take the fall, I can’t kill anymore. And I need to keep doing that. But the worst part of it all? I love him.

Samantha must keep Luke safe at all costs. If Samantha wins, Maria will die and disappear forever – taking Samantha with her. If Maria wins, Dr. Lawson will die and she and Samantha will move on to the next doctor – the next kill. But Luke is special. He could save Samantha from herself… but only if Samantha can save him.

About the Book

51ejw0ncsBL._SX348_BO1,204,203,200_Title: Leadership Wisdom

Author: Bob Vanourek

Genre: Nonfiction

Discover the timeless, inspiring wisdom of leadership from the sage masters of literature and other outstanding leaders written over the centuries right up to the present day. Bob has selected over 70 poems, prose or speech passages, and curious verse, each with an insightful leadership message. He combines these pearls with bite-sized chunks of engaging commentary from his own vast leadership experience. Then he closes each entry with practical applications that each reader can use immediately. You’ll hear from an amazing array of poets, presidents, prime ministers, political leaders, social activists, soldiers, educators, journalists, business leaders, the Bible, religious leaders from many faiths, Native Americans, a lyricist, and relatively unknown authors. This treasure of wisdom will activate your creative right-brain and then challenge your logical left-brain. The Foreword written by noted leadership authorities, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, captures it well: “This is an inspiring book … an informative and practical book … a book full of the author’s personal reflections, which stimulates you to think deeply … an antidote to the hubris of know-it-all executives and authors … a fast-read book; however, read it slowly, and savor it to the last drop. This book will surprise you with its insights and simple truths. This book is a treasure…” You’ll want to give copies to people you care about.

Author Bio

This book was fun to write. There are too many books out there now with some new leadership model, some fable about fictitious characters, or some pithy leadership quotes without much in the way of how to apply them to your life. I wanted to write a different book about leadership.

I have been a student of leadership and poetry my whole life. I love good literature and have found keen insights into the human condition from the master writers of history.

So, why not look to the poets, prose writers, and famous speeches of history to see what the masters have already said about leadership? The answers we need today are all there. It’s been said before, and said very well. But how many people today are reading great literature or poetry? Not many, I fear.

So, I’ve made it easy for you the reader. I’ve selected over 70 poems, prose passages, excerpts from great speeches, song lyrics, or what I call “curious verse,” each with a leadership message that resonates with me. I place those passages on the left page of the open book. Then on the right page I tell you a bit about the author and context. Then I offer my commentary on the passage, drawing on my experiences, good and bad, in leading many companies, as well as the wisdom of the true leadership gurus of our time. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I close with some practical applications that you, the reader, can use immediately to take this pearl of wisdom and apply to your own life. The result is a powerful combination of left and right-brain thinking.

I sent a draft of the manuscript to some tough, seasoned leaders and experts whom I respect and asked them to give me their candid feedback. I was humbled by their words: “inspiring” “informative” “practical” “a treasure” “engaging” “thought provoking” “superb” “enlightening” “brilliant” “simply genius” “a delight to read” “a must read” “a treasury of leadership wisdom” “a breakthrough” “timeless wisdom” “heartfelt” “I loved it”

I hope and trust that you will enjoy the compendium of leadership wisdom I have gathered here. Good luck and Godspeed on your leadership quest.

Matthew couldn't help it. He reached out one long hand, just brushing a silken strand of hair that she had missed when she'd done her earlier hair flip. Her breath caught, and so did his. Her heart was pounding, echoing within his own chest.
Kaitlin licked her lips, her thoughts racing, but not entirely in words. He won't kiss me, she thought, it's too soon. And I don't want him to, do I? Talk about being attracted to a bad boy! Cassie always said I had terrible taste in men, and doesn't this just prove it? And it's not just me I have to worry about now, it's Jay. But oh, her body loved the idea. It's been so long, and I almost thought that part of me was dead. It isn't. It so, so isn't. She practically tingled. Like a teenager with my first crush.
Or was that an echo? Matthew suddenly realized he was having trouble keeping her thoughts separate from his own. He'd felt this way before, but never so soon.
His hand moved from her hair to her upper arm, and he scooted towards her several inches. Her eyes were on his lips; her mind half-hoping, half-disbelieving.
Any minute now, I'm going to wake up, she thought.
Not if he could help it.
