Publication date: February 20th 2017
Genres: Adult, Historical, Romance

Without a Season, Lady Isolde Worthingham captured the Duke of Moore’s heart at a country dance. But on the eve of her wedding, a scandal that rocked the ton and sent her fleeing to Scotland alone and unwed, leaves her perfectly planned future in a tangle of disgrace and heartbreak.

Merrick Mountshaw, the Duke of Moore loathes the pitiful existence he hides from the ton. With a scandalous wife he never wanted, who flaunts her many indiscretions, life is a never-ending parade of hell. When the one woman he loved and lost returns to London, he knows he can no longer live without her.

But vows and past hurts are not easily forgotten. Love may not win against the ton when a too proper Lord and Lady play by the rules.

EXCERPT:

“I’m sorry you feel that way, but you cannot stop Isolde from marrying. She will marry one day. It may not be me, but it will be someone. And if the reports around London are correct, she is looking for a husband.”

“Damn you to hell.” Merrick left Wardoor, grabbed a half-filled bottle of whisky from the pavilion, and started toward the Italian Walk. He found a secluded grassy spot within the trees. The sweet-smelling scent floating on the breeze did little to lesson his ire.

Merrick clung to the tree branch above his head and fought not to snap it off, imagining it as Wardoor’s neck. He flung back a good portion of the whisky and welcomed the burn to his throat. How could his closest friend do this to him?

The thought of Isolde welcoming his attentions was like a physical blow.

Damn them. Damn him.

“Moore!”

It had always boded trouble when Isolde called him by his title. He turned, wanting and yet not wanting her here right at this moment. “My lady.”

She came up to him, standing but a few feet from his person, close enough to reach out and touch, to pull close and take what he desperately sought. And wished for.

“What do you think you’re doing, running off Wardoor from courting me?”

“He told you?” Merrick made a note to choke the bastard to death the next time he was in range to do so.

“Yes, he told me. After seeing you two trying to kill each other, in front of everyone, I might add, I asked him what you were about. Demanded to know, in fact.” She placed her hands on her hips, her perfect brow marred with a slight frown. Hell, she was beautiful. More beautiful than when he had met her at Cranleigh. “Now answer the question.”

“He’s my friend.”

She stood staring at him a while, before she slouched, as if gauging his meaning. “Merrick, you keep forgetting you married someone else. You have to let me go, if this is your struggle.”

It was his struggle. A constant gnawing on his soul that would never leave. “What if I do not want to?”

Hart Of Rock And Roll, Book 4
Published: December 2016

Zoe Hart knows who she is. Sister, friend. And badass lead guitar player for The Ryder Hart Band. A childhood filled with all-to-real monsters and the uncertainty of foster homes left her no choice but to grow up fast. To survive she built a wall that over time had gotten taller—thicker. She didn't let in anybody but her closest friends. And even they didn't know all her secrets. She doesn't need a man in her life to make it better. She doesn't need a man. Period. Especially a cocky, charming rock God who is used to women falling at his feet.

Smith Carson had known Zoe Hart since she was teenager. Pretty. Amusingly snarky. She was more of a girl than a woman. While he admired her as a musician, he always thought of her as Ryder Hart's little sister. In other words, hands off. When that changed, he wasn't certain. All he knew was that one day—in what seemed like a blink of the eye—she was all grown up. Breathtakingly gorgeous. Along with an outer maturity, her snarky tongue had turned from amusing to acid sharp. If Smith wanted Zoe—and he did—it was going to take more than some charm and a smile to win her.

Resisting Smith had been easy when Zoe thought he was a shallow, narcissistic pretty boy. The attraction was there, but that was all. Smith didn't try to hide his intentions. He wanted Zoe. To her surprise—as she got to know him—she found herself wanting him back. Before she knew what was happening, he snuck underneath her well-constructed walls. Smith was on a path to her heart—something Zoe hadn't thought possible.

It was tempting. Smith was tempting. But secrets—no matter how well buried—have a way of digging their way to the surface. Demons—both emotional and real—have haunted Zoe most her life. It's time to face them once and for all.

Can Zoe find a way to open her heart to what Smith is offering? Or will the past destroy what she wants the most? Love.

Could you share a bed with a smoking-hot stranger? I'm stuck in my hometown with a depressing job and no future. So when my best friend asks me to drive all the way to NYC so I can be her maid of honor, I jump on the chance to escape. Or I would have, if my car hadn't broken down. I've never been lucky. Then HE shows up—a guy straight out of a fitness magazine, wearing a sharp suit—and he actually fixes my engine. I'd love it if he'd fix a few other things of mine, but I'm in a rush. I don't think I'll see him again. Except here he is, staying at the same hotel as me. Turns out they lost my reservation. My mystery man offers to save the day again; I can sleep in my car and probably get arrested for it, or I can share his bed. He says nothing will happen between us... unless I want it to. I should know better than to hook up with someone I met 24 hours ago. I might regret this in the morning, but for once in my life? I just want to get lucky. Too bad I don't know who this man really is. And when I find out... My whole world is going to change.

EXCERPT

I didn't get the job. This news was the final nail in my coffin. My legs gave out, nothing stopping me from collapsing to my knees in the pouring rain. All my safeguards and barriers were stripped away; I couldn’t take it anymore. A panic attack wrung me out like a wet towel. My chest heaved with heavy, ugly sobs. It wasn't just about the stupid job. It was about all the decisions that had led me to this point. Everything I'd done... everything I hadn't done. I was only twenty-five. How did my life come to a complete stop? What happened? How did it all go so wrong? Why didn’t I escape with Zenya when I had the chance? That one terrible, terrible decision to stay haunted me every single damn day. I was crying so hard that I started coughing; the rising stomach acid scorched the back of my throat. Was I a professional puppy-kicker in a past life? What did I do to deserve this? Why couldn't I just catch a break? Just one? Please? Rain rolled off me in rivulets. It was coming down too hard to hear the approaching footsteps. “Hey,” a deep, baritone voice said. I was probably about to be robbed and I just couldn’t find it in me to care. It was his shoes I saw first when I opened my eyes; black leather loafers with a shine so polished I could see my reflection in them. I'd never met a mugger with nice shoes. “Are you alright?” “No,” I said, choking off a laugh before it could return to a sob, then I wiped my face and lied. “But I—I’ll be fine.” Even now at the end of my rope, I couldn’t shake the stubborn never-let-them-see-you're-hurt mentality. It must've been the hardened New Englander in me. The flickering streetlight finally snapped on and gave me a good view of the man and his outstretched hand. He was tall, clean-shaved and had thick black hair that was neatly combed back. He wore a pair of crisp black slacks and a deep, blue silk button down shirt that the rain matted to his broad muscular torso. From his nice clothes, gold watch and lack of a jacket, it was easy to tell that whoever this was, he wasn't planning on coming out in the rain. His giant arms flexed as he helped me to my feet. My throat went dry as I mentally traced his incredibly well-defined pecs, shoulders, and abs. Catching his eyes suddenly returned the weak feeling to my knees, and it didn't stop until it tore a shiver through my pussy that no cold weather ever could. Who was this guy? “Your car's seen better days,” the man calmly remarked. “What?” I followed his gaze to Carrie. Plumes of ashy smoke billowed out of her hood. My heart somehow found a way to sink even lower. “Oh no!” “Let me take a look,” the man said, already moving toward my car. “It's okay. I have Triple A coming, they'll be here... eventually.” Ignoring me, he pulled a diesel-looking multi-tool out of his pocket, bent over the engine and started tinkering. The new angle highlighted the dark designs that covered his thick back. The tattoos teased me beneath his near see-through silk shirt. I found myself biting my bottom lip and wishing for a better look. Without a thought to ruining his nice clothes, he dropped a knee into the muddy, cracked asphalt and slid under the car. “Seriously, it's fine! You don't have to—” I started, but it was clear this guy wasn't taking no for an answer. I tried to insist, but he wasn't having it. I'd always had trouble accepting help from people. Something about feeling indebted to someone made me extremely uneasy, almost to the point of physical pain. I had worked so hard for the little I had. It wasn't much, but it was mine. Frantic and buzzing with too many warring feelings, I looked around and spotted the storage pod. “Even if you fix my car, I'm stuck leaving it here until morning. Some asshole took my spot with this… tuna can excuse for an apartment unit... thing.” I sighed. “I'll get a parking ticket for sure.” After a loud bang and a few grunts of exertion, which I was ashamed to admit thrilled me way more than it should have, he said, “Try starting it.” Skeptically, I turned the engine over. Carrie roared right back to life like nothing was ever wrong. For a moment I was stunned speechless. My car purred smoother than she had in years. Holy crap, I was going to make it in time for the bridal shower luncheon after all! Maybe even a little sleep, if I dared to dream. “It’s worse than I thought,” he said. “When's the last time you had any work done on it? A check-up, oil change, anything?” It struck me how dangerous it was for him to be working on what was basically a two-ton lightning rod during a rainstorm. Maybe it was just because of what my life had been like these past few years, but it was hard for me to wrap my mind around the concept of the kindness of strangers. “Maintenance, what's that?” I chuckled sarcastically. I ran a hand over my sopping wet face and hair, realizing I was coming off more sad than funny. I sighed. “It's uh, been awhile, unfortunately.” A long while. One glance at his rain-slicked thigh muscles sticking out from under my car made me realize it'd been a long time since a lot of things. When was my last trip to Jiffy Lube? The oil change place. Totally not a synonym for a quickie. Damn it, brain! I flushed with heat and turned away. It was hard to think about things like an oil change when I could barely keep the lights on in my apartment. I couldn't remember a time when I wasn't just scraping by paycheck to paycheck. Marcos had helped me out with a pay advance a few times, but that was only when things got really bad. “Thank you so much,” I stammered. “I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name.” “Vetorian,” he said with another grunt. “But call me Veto.” What kind of name is Vetorian? The question didn't linger in my mind long when I saw that the rain had basically painted his clothes to his skin. Watching all the corded muscles in his arms and thighs flex as he pulled himself out from under the car was enough to melt away my money concerns, and everything else that wasn't an overwhelming desire to jump him. “Can I give you some money... or something.” I couldn't yank my eyes away from him as I turned off my car. His clothes were ruined, but damn, he still looked amazing in them. He wiped the grease and mud from his hands on his pants, then glanced up at me. Water dripped of the ends of a few strands of hair that covered his cool, dark eyes. The look he gave me made me tremble down to my toes. It was hard to believe Veto was real. I wondered what was wrong with him; there had to be something. That's how the world worked. Perfect guys like him didn't exist, especially not in my depressed little town. “Don't mention it.” His lips curled in a hint of a smirk. “Even assholes can do nice things every once in a while.”

Adrenaline Rush by Cindy M. Hogan

As I hurtled toward my destination at 500 miles an hour, I pulled out a notebook, placed it on the shiny mahogany table in front of me, and scribbled a quick to-do list. Pick out an outfit. Get folders and notebooks. Switch into fourth period drama. I chewed on the end of my pen. Oh yeah—just one more thing. Get kidnapped.

According to my pre-mission briefing, kidnappings were up in the States by five percent over the last five years. The significance of which didn’t hit me until I found that the statistics for kidnappings had remained static for a good thirty years. The spike caught the attention of the FBI, and they put their best men on it. The problem? Right when they thought they’d discovered the pattern of the kidnappers, it seemed to change.

We hit some turbulence, and the force of it pulled me out of my reverie. I sucked in a deep breath, my hands resting on the soft leather side arms of my big comfortable seat as the Gulfstream jet jumped. I let the rollercoaster feeling wash over me like a wave, forcing myself to enjoy every last tingle. I only had this flight and a few hours tonight to assume my new thrill-seeking alias—the one that would lure the kidnappers and save the day before the pattern changed again. I might as well make the most of it.

Chosen Wolf (Curse of the Moon #2) Excerpt

The full moon inched higher in the night sky, growing bigger and brighter by the moment. One by one, the members of the pack ran behind the Moonhaven mansion to remove their clothes before they tore to shreds as their bodies turned from men to wolves. Howls sounded in the distance.

Toby squeezed my hand, holding my gaze. “Maybe this will be the month you can finally shift again, Victoria.”

Sharp pains ran through my body. My right hip cracked. I bit my tongue, trying not to cry out in pain. My skin felt on fire as fur tried to poke through, but couldn’t.

His face tensed, a pained look in his eyes. “Are you shifting?”

I shook my head. There was nothing normal about this, and it was proving to be more difficult and painful than my other months of un-shifts. Each one grew worse than the last.

Toby scooped me up, carried me inside, and helped me onto my bed. “I can’t keep my wolf inside any longer. I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” I fought to keep my voice steady. Tears threatened.

He brushed hair from my face and kissed my forehead. “Ziamara’s upstairs sleeping. She said to wake her if you need anything.”

“I’ll be fine.” I grimaced, the pain nearly choking me.

Toby cried out and the sound of ripping fabric tore through the room. He spun around and dashed out the door. The back of his shirt had ripped, and fur poked through the split material.

I gripped a pillow, squeezing it as hard as I could to distract myself from the pain. It didn’t work, and the pillow exploded, filling the air with white feathers.

A loud pop sounded and then a horrific pain shot through my shoulders. I slumped down and screamed, unable to take the pain.

Excerpt

Daddy bought a camper. I shake my head in amazement every time I see it. It is small, but he says it is just big enough for him, Billy, and Bobby. The boys informed me that this was a guy thing. No girls are allowed. That is just fine with me.
Daddy and the boys have set it up in the woods behind the house. It is behind his workshop, so they are able to run an extension cord out there. Since it is hotter than a tater tot, that is pretty important.

They are there now. Daddy is teaching them how to shoot with bb guns. It is considered to be a rite of passage for all Southern children. It signifies the acceptance of responsibility. My babies are growing up.

They Promised her Hope…

My name is Katerina Anderson. In 2016, a drug called Hope was created. Administered during suspended animation, the drug was supposed to cure the cancer my twin brother and I had. When an earthquake leveled Los Angeles, we were presumed dead.

Forgotten, we slept.

The day I woke up, I realized everything had changed. My brother was missing, and everyone else I knew was dead. I booked passage on a ship to find Kris. The government thinks I’m a criminal and the cure did more than just cure my cancer. EXCERPT:

I sat in the interrogation room, waiting. I was annoyed. If they were arresting me for the car, then why was I in an interrogation room? Did they need me to confess? It all seemed a little strange. There had to be some sort of retinal scan that threw up some red flags on my lack of identification if I wasn’t there for the whole car thing.

I tried not to panic. I could totally get out of this. All I had to do was sweet talk them into thinking I was a dumb girl who lost her license…or whatever I was supposed to have.

I waited for almost two hours before Officer Smith came in to do the preemptive paperwork. When he was done, he paged his partner, Officer Cromwell.

Officer Cromwell was the big, burly guy who had knocked me out. One of his arms was the size of my torso and he could probably tear me in two.

“We want to know what connection you have with Captain Chase Wolfe.” His voice was so deep it made the air around him vibrate. I was impressed despite my automatic hatred for him.

Wolfe was the last thing I expected them to ask me about. They went to all that work to arrest me, but for none of the things I was actually guilty of. They wanted to know about the captain instead. My nerves went haywire, surely trying to warn me; the basic survival instinct kicking into overdrive.

I knew nothing about this captain. At least if it was something I’d done I could answer their questions. “Well, I booked passage with him,” I replied. “I’ve never met him prior to today.”

“You’re sure?” the smaller one asked as he walked in, Smith.

“Positive. I actually have no idea why I’m here.” My hands felt constricted in the cuffs, and they jangled unpleasantly when I moved.

Why would they hunt me down for information on this guy? I was on that ship for barely an hour. Things must be worse for the Wolfegang then I’d originally thought. The authorities wanted them bad.

“You have no identification, you aren’t in the system, and you recently went to the bank to exchange a large amount of cash for credits,” Cromwell stated. “It’s not possible to have nothing to identify you. This means you had it wiped somehow, most likely for criminal reasons. Oh, and you stole a car. Anything else I’m forgetting?”

Well, shit. They did know about my criminal activities, but somehow, they thought it was connected to this captain. What exactly had I gotten myself into?

He threw down a plex that showed the stolen car report, the bank transactions, and my passage receipt.

How had they gotten it all so fast?

“You deposited five thousand dollars in cash. Where did you get it?”

“My grandfather left it for me.” At least that wasn’t a lie. I didn’t know what they wanted me to tell them, but they were so convinced that I knew something. How was I going to get them to understand?

Maybe if I played this cool enough they would let me go. Though, I doubted it. Best-case scenario: I was thrown in a holding cell with a court date and no one to pay my bail. Worst-case scenario…I could only imagine what was legal for law enforcement now.

“Have you ever contacted Chase Wolfe prior to the purchase of your passage?” Smith asked me.

“No.” Another truthful answer. I was getting lucky. I was also getting annoyed. I hated roundabout questions that were just the same question reworded. I’d already told him that I hadn’t.

“But you do know a Kristopher Anderson.”

Crap, I had a bad feeling about this. “Yes.” How could they possibly connect me to him? There were probably a million Kristopher Andersons in the world.

“We arrested him a while back on assault charges and resisting arrest. Served time too.”

I didn’t say anything. I didn’t move or react in any way. He watched me, and it made me feel cagey.

“Why are you headed to the same planet that was his last known location?”

Damn, these guys were good. “Vacation.” I didn’t bother to elaborate.

Cromwell slammed his fist on the desk. I jumped about an inch off my chair. “Stop playing around! I know he’s your brother; the DNA we took when we processed you matches. Are you smuggling weapons to him? Are you working for him or Wolfe? Give me answers, damn it!” His fist left an impression in the table.

Author Bio:

My readers are what's important to me. Yes, I write for myself and the enjoyment of it, but I adore when a reader actually has a great time reading a story I slaved over. I don't write any particular genre, but I do stick to kick-ass female characters. I love writing about all types of differently strong women. My debut series is Young Adult Science Fiction. The first novella is free to see if you enjoy what I write.

I'm very involved with my fandoms, and love all things geeky and nerdy. I love connecting with my readers, so if you'd like to contact me just head over to my website :)
