Serena arrives at 36 Marguerite Ave. to interview for a nanny position for the Hartreve family, she is immediately concerned about the lack of a 34 Marguerite Ave. and after hearing different stories about its lack of existence, she can't help thinking about it. Serena accepts the nanny position and enjoys her time with her charge, Beth. However; she notices something just a bit off about each of the members of the family.
The story moves seamlessly back and forth between present day on Marguerite Ave. and Hartreve's ancestors and neighbors at 34 Marguerite Ave in the 1890's. Both stories are intriguing and give you small hints at the mystery surrounding 34 Marguerite Ave. as the story builds.
Overall, a well-written paranormal mystery that kept me guessing to the end. I hope that Stephanie Elmas will continue with her next work in progress that centers around one of the more fanciful characters in The Room Beyond.
