Beautifully written, with a little bit of everything: Adventure, love, sword fights, mythical being, religions and history. However, this is definitely written for an older teen to adult audience as sex is openly discussed and is a recurring theme within the tale. I had a hard time putting this book down as I followed the troupe of characters on their quest.
A historical fantasy novel and an epic tale that follows some very strong 13th century women as they try to save the eldest unicorn. The novel is written as though it was recently found and translated from an ancient text, so there are small bits that are missing and lost to time, it also affects the language and overall tone of the novel. There are many characters in this novel and it is told from each of their points of view. They are all bound to try and save Britomar, the oldest unicorn by traveling to the Garden at the Roof of the World to retrieve a fruit.
