Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale has one job: protect humans from dangerous fae. It’s a job she’s good at—until the cute guy whose life she just saved follows her back into the hidden world of magic. Now she’s broken Guild law, landing herself in a whole lot of trouble. The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the guy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget the magical world he’s discovered. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, plenty of mystery and intrigue, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a deadly plot that threatens not only her own life, but her entire world.
Excerpt
I cry out as the boy grabs hold of my arm. I stumble on the invisible path, my mind loses hold of my destination, and I tumble out of the darkness and onto the forest floor. I don’t usually exit the faerie paths so clumsily, but I don’t usually have a human boy on top of me.
I lie there blinking as the reality of what just happened strikes me like a slap in the face.
A human.
In the fae realm.
And I’m the one who brought him here.
No no no NO.
I give the guy a good kick and he lands on the ground beside me with a groan. “What did you do that for?” I yell, jumping to my feet. “You can’t follow me through! That’s not how this works.”
He sits up and stares at his surroundings—the wildly tangled trees; the creeping mist; the shifting smoke-like colors in the yuro plants’ leaves—with a mixture of horror and awe on his face. “That … was …”
“Probably the most idiotic thing you’ve ever done.” I doubt he’s listening to me though.
“I think you were right about the dreaming thing,” he says. “There’s no way this could be real. Am I high on something?”
“Ugh.” I clench my fists so tightly I can feel my nails digging into my skin. “It’s magic, you moron.”
He looks at me and frowns. “There’s no such thing as magic.”
“Well, you probably think there’s no such thing as faeries either, and yet here I am.” And here he is. In my forest. My home. I kick a flurry of leaves into the air. Their colors shift rapidly in protest, cycling through an endless palette: lavender, magenta, burgundy, sienna. I bury my face in my hands. I have so failed this assignment.
“No way,” he says, rustling the leaves as he stands. “You can’t be a faerie. You’re way too big.”
I lower my hands. “Excuse me?” I’ve been called many things in my seventeen years, but ‘big’ has never been one of them. Quite the opposite, in fact.
“Aren’t faeries supposed to be, like, really tiny? With wings and a wand and faerie dust?”
“I’m not Tinker Bell!”
He takes a step back. “Okay, okay. Since this is a dream, I guess you can be whatever you want to be.”
“Did it feel like a dream when I kicked you just now?”
“Actually, that did kind of hurt.” He rubs his leg.
I shake my head. “This is such a mistake. You should not be here.”
“So you don’t have wings then?” he asks, completely ignoring what I just said.
“Sure I do. They’re in my pocket.”
“Really?”
“No!” I’m trying to think of the best way to fix this, and I wish he’d keep quiet.
“Oh, wait, you do have a wand though. I saw you using it on my wall.”
“It’s not a wand, it’s a stylus. Just a stick, really.”
“But it—”
“You know, if it weren’t my sole purpose in life to protect humans like you from crazy magical fae, I’d leave you here to find your own way home.”
“Is that what you were doing in my room?” he asks after a moment.
I sigh. Why am I telling him any of this? “Yes. I was on assignment.”
“I was your assignment?”
Wow, you catch on fast. “Yes.”
He hesitates a moment, then grins. “That’s kind of hot.”

I was a woman on a mission. I wanted to be.... Somewhere I belonged.
My life as a small town gal kept me cautious, but I wanted to go travel the world, be free and not stuck in a bubble. I traveled through the states and kept moving until I got to Vegas. Flashing lights, casinos and the man in Armani who made traffic stop with his sparkling smile… A smile I quickly learned belonged to the devil.
Not anyone else’s devil – he was my devil.
Then, my world came to a crashing halt one night – the night my life went from dangerous to ready to flatline.
On the ride of my life, I went back to the past I’d abandoned years before. Back to the past that has never been the past. It could have been the present but I was too stubborn to see it.
I'm running back to the arms of safety.
To the arms I should have never left.

~Meet Barb Shuler~
I’m a Carolina Girl by right and a Texan by birth. Best of both worlds. I have the brass sass to keep up with my Texas sized temper. Living and working in both states i’ve learned a lot about hard work, adapting to your surroundings and making the best of the path that you have been led down. My grandma Dollie once told me I would know what I was meant to do when it happened. She was right, as always.
As with most book lovers, I am an avid reader. Reading has always been a hobby - a passion, really and a way to get lost in other people’s lives, their drama and other worlds. It’s a private movie in your imagination that you get to cast and navigate through, at your own pace. Reading helps to expand the perimeters of one's mind. That is what got me into writing. Writing has been something that I have done since I was a kid. If I had paper, I was writing. Nine out of ten times it made no sense but what are words if they are not to be used to your advantage? Words are a part of us all. Why not use them, right?
During the day I work as a ‘desk jockey’ and help the residents of my county navigate themselves around our little, but not too little country town. By night I am either blogging with my best friends, doing PA work for some of my favorite authors or fighting with the voices in my head. They can be stubborn at times. It’s a blessing and I am cherishing every moment. Tomorrow is never guaranteed so I want to make sure I live the day as fully as possible. For what is my creation, can become someone else's treasure.

-- EXCERPT: Whitney meeting a new friend Take my friends, and I’ll take yours. Sam’s worth at least four greens. Thanks for the new servants. Whitney wadded the note up in her hand and began to push up to go over and tell Amber what she thought, but Tina caught her eye and shook her head, which was enough to make Whitney pause. While she wanted to go over and give Amber a piece of her mind, she trusted her friend. Something in her eyes said to listen to her. Instead of going over to the table, Whitney let Amber think she had won and sat back down alone. It wasn’t like Whitney wasn’t used to being alone in a lunchroom. She had transferred schools once before coming to their school. She would be fine. Once she got to the bottom of things, she would get her friends back. Sitting back down, Whitney checked over her math homework. It was the only distraction she had with her, and she needed a distraction to keep from blowing up at Amber. It was ridiculous. Whitney wasn’t keeping Sam from Amber. Sam wanted nothing to do with her, or the sirens in general. That wasn’t Whitney’s fault. And actually, Whitney didn’t blame him on the Amber front. Whitney’s mother had told her more than once when she was a child that if you didn’t have something nice to say, you don’t say anything at all. That definitely pertained to Amber. Whitney had nothing she could say about the girl. “Um …” A shadow fell over Whitney’s paper as someone stood beside the table, blocking the light. Whitney glanced up to find a girl standing there, staring down at her paper, but not her. She had never seen the girl before, and she was sure she would have remembered her. She had long black hair that was tipped pink around the edges, some tattoos, and too many piercings to count. Even with her school uniform on, the girl stood out. How could you not with a Celtic cross taking up most of your forearm? That wasn’t something you saw often in a school with teenagers. Whitney’s mother would have killed her if she got a small tattoo that could be concealed. This girl’s wasn’t hidden at all. “Can I sit here?” the girl asked quietly, pointing to the empty table.
GIVEAWAY! Reason to Love
Goodreads / Amazon / iBooks / Kobo -- EXCERPT: He arched down, grabbing my face between his callous palms, and a weird jolt of energy pulsed through me. Instead of pushing him away, strangely, the only thing I could think of was how long it’d been since I felt a man’s hands on my skin. His full focus was on me, the attention sending little tremors of awareness through me, as we stared at each other, speechless, our faces mere inches apart. Move, Reason. Just fucking go. My mind and body staged a mutiny by refusing to cooperate, as if daring the shifter to make another move. He did by pressing his lips against mine. Reaching up, I slapped my hands against his wide shoulders with every intention of shoving him away. Instead, my fingers gripped him tight, pulling him closer. My lips parted before he sucked my tongue into his mouth. Oh, baby Jesus. Why does he taste like my three favorite things—coffee, mint, and cinnamon?

Excerpt:
Ellora raced down the hallway as fast as her legs could carry her. Dread gripped her when she heard his heavy footsteps pounding on the hardwood floors behind her. His powerful presence echoed around the eerily empty house. It didn’t matter how fast she ran; he was always right on her heels.
Her body quaked violently when she made it to the stairs. If she couldn’t make it out of there, she’d never survive. Reaching out, Ellora gripped the railing with both hands and used the leverage to fly down the steps. He thundered down after her. The smell of his rancid panting breath snaked its way over her shoulder. The stench stung her nose. Ellora risked looking back, finding his large black eyes, vicious with a murderous rage zeroing in on his prey. He was close enough to grab her.
Her heart hammered inside her chest painfully as it worked hard to push her broken body to its limits. Her ears throbbed as he screamed out her name.
Oh my God, this is it. He reached out… And…
Ellora shot upright in her bed, crying out. Her weary body trembled violently as the all too real images continued to torment her. She swiped at her tear-stained cheeks with weak hands.
Unspeakable memories played out in her mind, gripping the sheets tighter, Ellora curled up into a ball and sobbed. After what felt like an hour, the emotionally wrecked girl stumbled out of bed on shaky legs.
“I might as well stay up,” she mumbled to herself.
There was no point in trying to go back to sleep with her heart still pounding the way it was. She sauntered over to her large opened window, glancing out at the breathtaking view along the harbor. Ellora watched as the sun came up casting pink hues through her pale yellow curtains.
The rising sun, a bright burnt orange, looked as though it was climbing right out of the sea. The frothy waves gently rolled to shore, still cold looking from the long winter months. The peaceful rhythmic motions calmed her erratic heart.
Ellora tore her eyes away from the dark blue waters, seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, glancing down at the large man walking out of the pub one floor below. It was Behr.
He stopped mid-stride on the sidewalk, deep in thought. After a few moments, he turned and looked up at her window. He seemed shocked at first, seeing her looking down on him. Behr’s eyes warmed over, a big beautiful smile lit up his features as he took her in.
Lifting his hand in greeting, the large man winked at her flirtatiously. Ellora felt brave enough to openly stare at him from the safety of the second story window. Whether she wanted to admit it to herself or not, Behr was a magnificent man to look at.
What was she going to do with this burly guy who’d barged into her life? She couldn’t wait to find out.

Excerpt:
Behr rose to stand, the soft light from the lamp posts on the pier outside trickled through the window, illuminating beautifully around his immense and imposing frame. His keen eyes explored the exquisite beauty that lay sprawled out… waiting for him.
Clutching a fistful of fabric, Behr pulled his shirt up over his head and tossed it aside. When his eyes found hers, he was astonished when longing burned hot and bright in Ellora’s eyes. She gazed up at him in the most intimate and vulnerable way, that expression nearly pushed him over the edge. He wanted her in the worst way.
Behr dragged his pants zipper down its track, letting them fall open in a painstakingly slow fashion, as if testing her level of comfortability, but succeeded only in heightening the tension. It hung thick and heavy in the air between them.
There he stood in all his glory, wearing nothing but the thin fabric of his boxer briefs, putting to shame any statue ever carved of the powerful Roman gladiators. Ellora’s heart pounded inside her chest in anticipation as the bed dipped under his impressive weight as he crawled his way over to her.
Hovering over his raven haired beauty, he carefully gauged her reaction to his close proximity. Seeing his hesitation, Ellora pulled him impossibly close, desperately needing to quench the overwhelming need to have his arms wrapped around her.
Behr ran his work-roughened hands up and down her quivering back, trying his best to sooth her. “I’m right ‘ere, love. Always right ‘ere by your side. Nothing can keep me from you. I’m yours for the night.”
Dalton waited until he was sure they were both completely asleep. He crept out of the shadows of his hiding place. He had been waiting there for the last few hours, watching, biding his time, to finally catch a moment alone with Ellora… waiting for the bastard to leave.
His intention was to act upon every fantasy he’s clung to since arriving in this town. Dreaming of doing exactly what that deplorable man was lucky enough to do right now. Dalton’s need to feel her soft body pressed against his, to savor her full lips, made his need to take her escalate to unbelievable heights.
His blind obsession with this girl clouded the reasonable side of his brain. Dalton had an overwhelming craving to slit the bastards throat while he slept for touching her, but the thought of staining her porcelain skin with his repulsive, filthy blood stopped him from going through with the task.
He would enact Behr’s inevitable downfall soon enough. He would come to Ellora on another night. the next time, he would definitely be alone with her. The smell of her delicate perfume beckoned to him, drawing Dalton closer to the Vulnerable young girl.
Dalton needed to taste her lips before he left. He needed this. Just one caress from her delicious mouth and he’d leave. The snake crawled out from the protection of the shadows and inched his way closer to her sleeping form. He stalked across the old wood surface until he hovered over her bed.
His sinister smile grew as he stared down at her tempting body. That smile faded when his eyes adjusted on the ingrate’s arm wrapped protectively around the woman who belonged to him. Dalton kneeled down, settling a mere inches from her face.
“Soon, my love. Soon I will feel the heat of your body wrapped tight around mine. Soon, you will be mine…”

Tell me what’s going on.” He takes one last photo out of the folder and pushes it towards me. “You’re here because of him.” I almost stop breathing. Case Reider. The one boy I desperately didn’t want to leave behind when my father moved us out to Wolf Valley seven years ago. “Yes,” I whisper. “I know him.” “I know you know him,” Randy says softly. He places a hand on mine just as Lisa appears with another cup of coffee. I take it from her, muttering some thanks, and then take a long, long sip before coming up for air and letting it out in a sigh. “He was your escort for the Debutante Ball.” “How do you know that?” I ask. “I was there that night.” He smiles sheepishly. “Someone else’s date, obviously. I saw you with him.” “I haven’t seen him in forever.” Randy waves a hand in the air. “Doesn’t matter. We’re not after him.” I feel so relieved. “Not yet.” My relief disappears. “We know for a fact that Lincoln Wade is a black-hat hacker, Lulu. And Detective Molly Masters has been dating him since she came to town. But the real problem is… Lincoln Wade and Case Reider have been best friends since childhood. Do you remember those two boys who went missing twenty years ago, without a trace, then reappeared several years later with no explanation?” “Oh, Jesus.” “Yup,” Randy says. “Those two boys were Case and Lincoln. We think Brooks was involved somehow, but we’re not sure where they intersect. They are close now, at any rate. We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out... Launch - Note from the Author
If you’ve never read a ttq novel before, you’re just on the cusp of getting your first introduction. I love glitz and glamour, but it’s not enough for me. My stories look behind the larger than life things that happen in life. They go deep into the messy part of living. The feelings that we all experience, but so often shy away from. The emotions that are confusing. Sometimes threatening. And yet…if we can find a safe place in which to explore them, we can often times find that elusive happiness we’ve been seeking.
The Lemonade Stand is Kacey’s safe place. I hope my books can be one of yours.

Brooke Blogs - Looks (Guest Post)
In Her Secret Life, Kacey and Michael had some things to tell me about looking good. I don’t know that any of us came up with any answers as to why our looks effect how we feel – is it just societal, or is it more than that, a sense of knowing that if we do our best to take care of ourselves, we perform better? But what helped me was to know that when the chips are down, surface beauty really is only skin deep. And that what is underneath is what we need, what turn to and what we draw from, even within ourselves, when challenges face us.
Nicole's Book Musings - Excerpt
Mike Valentine listened unabashedly to the half he could hear of his lunch companion’s phone conversation the first Monday in March.
“I know. Mmm-hmm.” Her tone was more flirty than not. Glancing at Mike, Kacey rolled her eyes. And then mouthed, Bo.

Mike could hear the other man’s voice but couldn’t make out the words as Kacey sat forward in her seat again. She was smiling. And hung up shortly afterward.
He raised an eyebrow at her. She could talk. Or not.
He was good either way.
Thoughts of a Blonde - Review
"Another great book revolving around volunteers at the Lemonade Stand women’s shelter in Santa Raquel. Many of you will recognize Kacey from her twin sister Lacey’s story a couple of books ago. It was great to get to see Lacey, Jem & Levi doing well! With this book, we have a story about two unlikely people to become the very best of friends … and how they adjust when the love they feel for their friend starts to turn into more."

As has happened many times during my career, I found myself inside a book that was going places completely unexpected. All these emotions, from every member of a family…Different emotions. underneath the covers - Domestic Violence (Guest Post)
Where Secrets Are Safe, my current series with Superromance, is fiction. It’s entertainment. It’s larger than life. And yet…it’s also a voice. And a lesson plan. It revolves around a resort like women’s shelter set off the coast of California. The Lemonade Stand – Where Secrets Are Safe. The Stand is fiction. The characters and stories are pure ‘Hollywood.’ Many of the avenues for help and change are not. The laws are not. The love that heals, that gives hope for a future that includes real happiness, pure joy, is not.
She shook her head but didn’t seem ready to take off, like she needed to sit with a friend she could trust for a second.
Part of him wanted to give her that. So he stayed. This wasn’t the first time someone had posted something derogatory about her. That came with the territory. They weren’t dealing with life and death.
So why did it feel like they were?
Harlie's Books - Review
"You are fooling yourself is you are NOT reading this series. It’s powerful, emotional, romantic and just so well written. Ms. Quinn tackles the subject matter with a deft hand and also, with compassion for the victims. Bring on the next one."

About the AuthorWhen Olivia Hardin began having strange movie-like dreams in her teens, she had no choice but to begin putting them to paper. Before long the writing bug had her and she knew she wanted to be a published author. Several rejections plus a little bit of life later, and she was temporarily “cured” of the urge to write. That is until she met a group of talented and fabulous writers who gave her the direction and encouragement she needed to get lost in the words again. Olivia’s attended three different universities over the years and toyed with majors in Computer Technology, English, History and Geology. Then one day she heard the term road scholar and she knew that was what she wanted to be. Now she “studies” anything and everything just for the joy of learning. She's also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and she’s sometimes accused of being artistic. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband, Danny and their puppy, Bonnie. Get a free gift just for signing up for Olivia's Newsletter!
