Review:
Duke the dog watches the squirrels scurry about high above him in the trees. They look like they are having so much fun running back and forth and up and down on their squirrel superhighway. Duke wishes he could join them! However, Duke can't climb a tree or speak squirrel. He tries his best to help the squirrels collect their acorns, but at the end of the day Duke realizes he is happiest being a dog.
A fun and imaginative story that is not only about being happy with yourself, but learning about others. Through spending the day with the squirrels, Duke goes from wishing he could be like a squirrel to doing his best to help the squirrels and then accepting that he is best at being a dog. The drawings are whimsical and showcase abundant nature, cute squirrels and dogs. A good lesson and story to read to young children ages 1-5, especially if they are animal lovers.
